Not On The High Street was founded by British entrepreneurs Holly Tucker MBE and Sophie Cornish MBE in 2006. They have changed the face of UK enterprise by supporting growing small businesses, offering a route to market for designer-makers who would otherwise struggle for custom or lose out in the battle with high street giants. Bringing together more than 5,000 of the UK’s most creative small businesses, they offer more than 200,000 original, inspirational lifestyle products, many of which are bespoke and made to order.

NOTHS approached us about a Head of CRM vacancy, which was proving particularly problematic for their PSL and internal recruitment team. The vacancy was an urgent hire and it was important that they found someone who fitted with their company culture. An additional challenge was finding someone who could easily commute to their offices in Richmond.

How we helped

Following a detailed briefing, we compiled a realistic list of companies where this person could come from, keeping in mind the specific brief, but also their unique business culture. We then mapped out these companies to build an accurate reflection of their marketing teams, whilst keeping NOTHS updated on the statistics and results from these mapping projects. This helped with managing the expectations of the senior stakeholders, but also when it came to shortlisting candidates for interview.

We built a candidate pack, which explained the opportunity in great detail, including the job details, but also the team, the company’s future aspirations and the potential salary and benefits package on offer. We were working with a very small pool of candidates, so it was vital that we enticed as many as possible, to give NOTHS the best chance of hiring successfully.


We successfully placed the Head of CRM, in three weeks – from the point of picking up the job brief to having an accepted offer from the candidate. This was achieved due to a rigourous process when setting-up the project, which helped us to work quickly in securing the best candidate for the business.
